My name is Valerie Ziehler. I am a student at the Concord-Carlisle Highschool in Concord, MA. I like photography because it allows you to freeze moments and keep them, instead of always depending on memory. There are things that I would not have been able to remember if I had not taken any pictures. I enjoy taking pictures that tell a story, as well as pictures that are rich in one color or many. There are stories that can be written about people just by taking pictures of them, or objects that are somehow connected to them. I like contrasting colors because they are pleasing to look at.
My mother is a photographer, and so growing up photography was a big part of my life. My mother’s photography was mostly focused around landscapes and wildlife. I am hoping to capture more images of wildlife as I continue pursuing photography. Most of the time my photography does not have the same theme or style; I try to take pictures of everything that I can without any restrictions.
Valerie,
This is well written, and very specific. I am glad you are enjoying working in color. I can feel your passion for and connection to photography through your writing. I hope you are showing your work to your mom! One idea: there are no images when your blog comes up. Edit this page to add a photo or two that represents you, right at the top of this post. You can swap it out once and a while to reflect your current favorite. That way, when we read these things about you and photography we can relate it to the image.

I like the use of your own personal origin of photo and the use of what you think photography can do.
